Job Description

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Reno, NV is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Palliative Care Physician. This role involves providing comprehensive palliative care services to veterans with serious, life-limiting illnesses, improving quality of life, and providing support to patients and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Conduct comprehensive palliative care assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, social workers, and other medical staff.
Provide inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultations.
Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
Engage in quality improvement projects and initiatives within the department.
Utilize advanced pain and symptom management techniques.
Support families and provide counseling as needed.

Qualifications :

U.S. Citizenship : Required.

Education : Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.

License : Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Residency : Completion of an accredited residency training program.

Board Certification : Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred.

Experience : Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality palliative care and work within an interdisciplinary team setting.

Additional Requirements :

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.

Ability to train and supervise house staff and trainees.

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and ability to document clinical care effectively.
