This is an hourly, at-will, non-benefited position working a varied schedule. Applicant must be available to work assigned shifts which include nights and weekends. The library’s hours are Monday and Tuesday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Senior Librarian, performs professional library services in one or more assigned areas of the Library. Major duties include reference work; reader’s advisory; collection development; programs and events for all ages; and supporting library patrons in the use of library materials, technology and library services; and performs related duties as required. The duties listed are examples of the work typically performed by employees in this class. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties which are not listed. Provides professional library services to the public; answers reference questions; assists with the library's materials collection development; performs a variety of other professional library tasks such as instructing the public in the use of the computer catalog, Internet terminals, e-books and online databases; acts as the reader's advisor; instructs patrons on the use of reference sources; and performs other duties as required or assigned, including assisting in developing and staffing library programs and activities.
