Description : General comments about the unit are as follows : The unit has a maximum capacity of 43 patients with 34 beds available. Staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 8 registered nurses, and 3 techs during the day shift, and 1 charge nurse, 8 registered nurses, 1 tech, and 1 unit secretary during the night shift, if at maximum capacity. The typical patient ratio is 5 : 1. The unit is equipped with remote telemetry. Electronic medical records are managed using Meditech. The typical hiring profile includes travel registered nurses, local certified nursing assistants, and sitters. Candidates must possess BLS certification. Preferred certifications include NIH Stroke certification and ACLS. Typical procedures performed on this unit include general medical surgical care, with a focus on stroke and neuro patients.
