Peer Mentors (PMs) offer a student-to-student service that aims to provide guidance foster academic growth and enhance student engagement with the universitys programming and resources. As part of the Federal Work Study program PMs act as intermediaries between the University and students by leading activities and motivating them to participate in diverse Campus Life events such as clubs Discord servers and other peer / community resources. PMs strive to establish a professional supportive and positive relationship with their mentees assisting them in adapting to college life and / or settling in San Francisco. Moreover this position complements and reinforces the educational or vocational goals of Federal Work Study students by imparting leadership communication and professional development skills. To qualify as a PM candidates must be experienced students in their respective degree programs and possess a deep understanding of the universitys departments and services.

The Peer Mentorship Program (PMP) is available to all enrolled students and strongly encouraged for new first-time students. To participate students can sign up and work with a mentor by visiting support to mentees via email Discord Zoom and in-person

Attend and occasionally host weekly team leadership meetings

Engage with students and post content to Campus Life Discord server

Participate in student engagement activities (hosting talks study hall etc.)

Submit hours weekly and maintain documentation of student interactions

Maintain professional communication and a positive attitude

Qualifications :

Have successfully completed two semesters of classes

Hold a GPA of 2.85 or above

Available to work 8 hours a week

Self-motivated independent strong communicator and reliable

Skilled with Microsoft Office Google Docs Zoom and Discord

Prior leadership experience preferred

Location : Remote

Reports to : Lauren Spain Associate Vice President of Student Affairs

Pay Rate : $19.18 per hour

Work Schedule : Up to 20 hours per week

  • Federal Work Study work schedules may not conflict with the students class schedule.

Length of Employment : The students starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
