Part-Time Nurse Practitioner (NP) Clinical Faculty

Job Description Summary

The NP Clinical Faculty oversees the precepted clinical experiences of NP students and collaborates with preceptors to ensure appropriate clinical experiences for students. The NP Clinical Faculty must have educational preparation and / or extensive clinical experience in the content area to which they will be providing clinical supervision.

Job Duties :

• Participate in routine meetings with the Faculty of Record (FOR) to review the syllabus and course expectations.
• In collaboration with the FOR, support preceptors in guiding the student’s clinical experiences.
• Evaluate students onsite and collaborate with the preceptor and course faculty to support the student’s learning.
• Review the evaluation with the student and provide timely written feedback.
• Be readily available for problem-solving and consultation through telephone and / or email communication with the student, preceptor, and FOR.
• Review clinical notes as assigned by the course faculty and provide feedback to the student.
• Assume overall responsibility for reporting the student’s clinical performance to the FOR.
• Monitor the student’s progress toward and acquisition of clinical hours.
• Maintain routine communication with students.Supports student learning through periodic conferences with the student and the FOR. Minimum Qualifications :
• MSN required, DNP or PhD preferred
• NP Clinical Faculty must have currency in clinical practice.
• Previous experience as an NP clinical instructor or preceptor preferred.
• Hold a current, active, unrestricted license as a registered nurse (RN) and specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
• Hold a current certification in an advanced practice registered nurse role that aligns with the student population being supervised in the clinical setting.
• Must be able to meet all health requirements as stipulated by the clinical agencies, including a clean criminal background check and urine drug screen. Special Instructions to Applicants : Oakland University Standard Language
