Medical Director

Overview

Purrfurably Cats is searching for a skilled veterinarian to lead our feline-exclusive practice in Monterey, California. As Dr. Kathleen Marcus plans to reduce her hours, we're searching for an experienced veterinarian to join our team as co-Medical Director. In this role, you will assist Dr. Marcus to ensure the long-term success of Purrfurably Cats. Along with influencing the future of our clinic, you will also build upon our hospital's current strengths, while elevating our services and encouraging new business ideas. Experienced Medical Directors are highly encouraged to apply; however, we're also open to emerging leaders and experienced Associates (5+ years of clinical experience in a feline-exclusive practice).

Responsibilities / Expectations

The Medical Director will help guide clinical and service direction, mentor staff, and contribute to strategic planning to support high-quality feline care and client service. The role emphasizes collaboration with the Medical Director team and veterinary technicians to maintain a high standard of patient care and client communication.

Qualifications

• EXCELLENT communication skills
• Enthusiastic about leading a practice
• Strong leadership skills and positive outlook
• 5+ years of current, feline-exclusive clinical experience
• Well-versed in feline medicine (surgery, behavior, GI needs, etc.)
• Veterinarian who trusts their technician and support teams
• Love for teaching and a willingness to mentor others
• Eager to build relationships with our client base
• Commitment to lifelong learning and staying on top of the latest industry developments / tools
• Fear Free certification is a plus

Scheduling

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday role (4- or 5-day work week). There are no weekend, on-call, or emergency afterhours for this role. Additionally, we prioritize work / life balance by ensuring our team leaves on time and remaining flexible with our scheduling to accommodate vacations, important events, and life outside of work.
