Sheriff Corrections Deputy (Lateral Entry)

• Within the last five years, have been employed continuously for 12 months as a full-time corrections officer of a public law enforcement agency.
• Have successfully completed a probationary period.
• Have successfully completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commissions Corrections Officer Academy, or completed, or qualified to complete the Washington State equivalency academy.
• Have the ability to perform the essential mental and physical demands and functions of the position.
• Have solid writing skills, basic report preparation using computer technology.
• United States' Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident at the time of appointment.
• Ability to read and write the English language (required by RCW 41.14.100).
• Valid driver's license at time of employment.
• Have no prior felony convictions and / or recent or excessive drug usage history.
• An officer whose certification, commission, or licensing has been revoked or suspended, or is under review by this state or any other state or territory is not eligible to apply as a lateral applicant.
