Description
Summary :
Assists in developing, coordinating, facilitating, analyzing and managing those functions related to scanning and archiving of documents, the release of information, the aggregation, assessment, analysis, and all charging activities performed in the HIM (Health Information Management) department. Responsible for the presentation and collection of data. Responsible for identifying tends of charging issues and implementing an action plan to resolve the issue. Oversees oversight payroll calculation and submission and the availability of supplies.
Responsibilities :
1.Responsible for the completion, analysis and deficiency assignments of discharge records. Provides oversight for the scanning and archiving process. Monitors and maintains records per the hospital retention policy. Handles retrievals on requests from off-site storage facilities.
2.Performs monitoring and auditing functions through data collection, aggregation, assessment and presentation for all areas including HIM operations and Charge Validation.
3.Serves as a resource to providers and assists hospital teammates in the retrieval of electronically stored documents.
4.Communicates and confers with members of the healthcare team to complete records and documentation needed to support audits, record reviews and studies.
5.Stays current with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations in order to adequately support chart completion and the hospital-wide suspension policy and process.
6.Manages the chart completion process, proactively working with physicians and other department teammates to complete records in the timeliest manner possible.
7.Manages the charge process for all charging areas reporting to HIM.
8.Stays current with all charging guidelines throughout the facility including Injection and Infusion guidelines.
9.Evaluates teammate performance for all direct reports, utilizing productivity and quality measurement tools. Sets goals and objectives for staff based in-service demands.
10.Assists as needed in training providers, provider's office staff and hospital teammates in the use of information systems to retrieve needed data and information.
11.Assures ROI turn-around times are maintained and that staff are compliant with HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
12.Ensures monthly statistical reports are completed within designated time frames.
13. Monitors and constantly assesses the quality of the imaging process assuring highest quality product possible.
14.Coordinates reporting of cancer cases to the NC Tumor Registry.

Other information : Education
Associate's degree in Health Information Technology / Management with accompanying AHIMA credentials or related associate's degree or a minimum of five years' experience in the Health Information Management or related Healthcare field with at least two years supervisory experience.
Licensure / Certification
None required if experience satisfied. Preferred AHIMA credential. Required RHIT, RHIA if experience not meet.
Experience
Must have at least five years' experience in the Health Information Management or related healthcare setting and at least two years supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Valid NC Driver's License : No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
