The unit has an average daily census of 24 with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4-5. RNs are required to titrate drips, which may include heparin, nitro, and insulin. Charge nurses are present on each shift and do take patient assignments. Patient care techs assist RNs with a ratio of 1 tech per 12 patients. Equipment includes overhead lifts in some rooms and portable lifts. RNs will be responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. Weekend and holiday commitments are required. Floating to MedSurg or ICU is necessary to accommodate patient acuity. The dress code for the unit is navy blue scrubs. Candidates should be flexible, adaptable, and have strong communication skills. Successful candidates will be team players who can take feedback and learn. The unit serves diverse cultural populations. RTO must be provided upfront, with limited additional requests accepted. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed during the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
