CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS : Under specific direction, performs skilled professional work
assisting in the coordination and administration of specially assigned programs or projects which have
operational responsibility of a moderate scope, a moderate budget, and provides a supplementary county
service. Work involves responsibility for coordinating all activities of a project and serving as a liaison with
other county, state, federal, and community agencies.

assignment to the position.)
Coordinates and manages all activities of a program or project which has operational responsibility of
moderate scope, a medium-sized budget, and provides a supplementary county service.
Responsible for developing projects, including conducting research for each project and collecting,
analyzing, and interpreting data for use in developing recommendations for project implementation and
presents these recommendations to management.
Performs needs assessments, surveys, and special studies in order to gather pertinent information for use in
developing project procedures and schedules.
Prepares project reports and related data and documents.
Supervises, assigns, and reviews the work of specially assigned project personnel and subordinates.
Provides direct assistance to an administrative superior in a specially assigned area of operation.
Conducts special studies in conjunction with a project, analyzes the corresponding data, and makes
recommendations based on this data.
Serves as the administrative liaison between various county operational and administrative functions related
to an assigned project and interprets and explains policy regulations and operating procedures as required.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's
degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Management, Political Science,
Social Science, a field related to the area of assignment, or any closely related field PLUS two (2) years of
experience in a staff or administrative capacity relating to the area of assignment.
Additional qualifying education and / or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and
abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : May be required, depending on the area of assignment, to possess or obtain
prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of
employment.
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the
employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

PowerPoint, or other similar software.
Good knowledge in the use of specialized software and internal software applications specific to the area of
assignment.
Good knowledge of the standard practices in the fields oflocal government personnel management,
budgeting, and accounting.
Good knowledge of applicable federal, state, and county laws, regulations, ordinances, and codes pertaining
to the area of assignment.
Good knowledge of the functions and operations of the assigned unit.
Some knowledge of federal grant program rules and regulations.
Ability to conduct research and use the data collected to prepare comprehensive written and electronic
reports.
Ability to analyze problems and data and formulate recommendations.
Ability to maintain complete and accurate written and electronic records.
Ability to multi-task and organize and prioritize work and coordinate projects.
Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff as required by work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This is mainly sedentary work.
