Job description

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is dedicated to creating a world where children are safeguarded, families thrive, and communities flourish.

We are seeking a passionate Youth Support Specialist II eager to impact the lives of youth aged 10-17!

Purpose & Impact :

In this direct service role, you will supervise residents, ensure quality care, maintain a safe and secure environment, and accompany youth on outside activities. You will serve as a role model, encouraging residents to pursue educational growth and develop essential life skills.

Essential Functions :

  • Foster a supportive environment for youth.
  • Ensure daily security and upkeep of the facility.
  • Participate in implementing and monitoring client case plans as directed.
  • Engage in various in-service training sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Supervise residents during activities actively.
  • Effectively manage behavior and supervision during activities.
  • Assign and oversee chores.
  • Prepare meals when necessary.
  • Assist in screening clients, conducting initial intakes, and administering satisfaction surveys when directed.
  • Complete necessary initial paperwork for clients.
  • Oversee clients self-administering medication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Physical Requirements :

  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours and adapt to scheduling needs.
  • Valid state driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Education :

    High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Experience :

    Preferred experience working with youth or troubled youth in organized or structured settings.

    Skills / Abilities :

  • Dependability, discretion, and sound judgement are crucial.
  • Capable of establishing effective relationships with clients, coworkers, and the general public.
  • Must show sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic needs of the population served.
  • Must be a team player with coworkers and administrators.
  • Certification in CPR / First Aid and crisis intervention must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
