Pitt County Cultural Arts & Recreation Community Center Director
The purpose of this position is to direct the operations of the Pitt County Cultural Arts & Recreation Community Centers within the Cultural Arts & Recreation Department. This is accomplished by supervising the Clerk V and to assist in monitoring the work of the recreation coordinators. To create and manage the division's budgets, securing grants and other outside support, establishing and following department policies and procedures, completing monthly reports, and overseeing department's recreation program advertising. Other duties include creating and supervising special events. Reports to the Associate Director of Programming.
Assist the Director and Associate Director of Cultural Arts & Recreation in various tasks by formulating and executing departmental rules, procedures and policies. Create and formalize community partnerships. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures. Provide administrative support by sending and receiving phone calls, emails and other communications to staff, co-workers, partnering groups, and program participants. Coordinate with Pitt County Schools regarding the use of school facilities. Assist citizens with program registrations and facility reservations. Respond to citizen inquiries. Deliver presentations to staff, Commissions and citizens. Coordinate special events and programs. Solicit sponsorships. Submit program information to local media and Public Information Office. Request development of flyers, pamphlets, and other marketing materials. Monitor expenditures and revenues; make adjustments as necessary.
Bachelor's degree in recreation administration or closely related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in local government recreation, some of which should be supervisory and administrative.
