Charlotte NICU Nursing Job Details
Location : Charlotte, NC (28204) – North Carolina nursing jobs
Contract Length : 13-week travel nurse contract
Start Date : January 5, 2026
End Date : April 6, 2026
Shift : 12-hour night shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15)
Hours per Week : 36
Unit : Hemby Intensive Care Nursery / NICU (Level III / IV)
Patient Ratios : 1 : 2-4
Self-Scheduling : Available per unit needs
Orientation : 24 hours of unit orientation
Weekend Requirement : 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
Estimated Weekly Pay : $1490 - $1530
NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in Level III or IV NICU / ICN (required)
Active Registered Nurse license (North Carolina or Compact State; must be in hand at start)
BLS and NRP certifications (required)
Experience with ventilator management and advanced NICU procedures
Epic charting experience preferred
First-time travel nurses welcome
Ability to float to Pediatric, PICU, or nursery units caring for infants up to 12 months
NICU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to premature and critically ill neonates (as low as 22 weeks gestation)
Perform advanced NICU procedures : therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide therapy, UAC / UVC, tracheostomy care, ostomy management, and more
Operate specialized neonatal equipment : Tecotherm, BCPAP, Servo Vents, HFOV, Giraffe, Alaris IV pumps, and Med Fusion for feedings
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and physical therapy
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic and other clinical systems
Follow infection control and isolation protocols
Participate in self-scheduling and fulfill weekend / holiday coverage requirements
Float to affiliated pediatric units as needed based on census and skillset
