About the Role
As the Senior Underwriting Executive, you will spearhead the underwriting strategy across diverse business lines, setting risk appetites, guidelines, and authority matrices to foster both growth and profitability. In this pivotal role, you will manage and evaluate underwriting operations, making critical decisions on complex or high-value cases, overseeing portfolio performance, and proactively monitoring loss ratios while adjusting strategies in response to the evolving market landscape.
You will engage closely with actuarial, claims, product, distribution, and risk management teams to ensure seamless coordination of pricing, product design, capital allocation, and underwriting controls. Your leadership will also encompass driving continuous improvement initiatives by harnessing analytics, automation, and advanced decision-support systems. Alongside mentoring and developing a high-performance underwriting team, you will uphold regulatory compliance and governance.
To succeed in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in actuarial science, finance, insurance, risk management, or a related field, with relevant professional credentials (such as CPCU, FCAS, ACII) strongly preferred. A proven history of leadership in underwriting roles within insurance or reinsurance is essential, along with experience across diverse product lines and complex risk portfolios. You will need a deep understanding of underwriting principles, risk modeling, pricing strategies, reinsurance structures, and regulatory frameworks.
The ideal candidate is strategic, analytically driven, and influential at the executive level, equipped with exceptional communication and leadership skills. Experience in implementing underwriting systems, data analytics tools, and leading transformational initiatives in underwriting operations will be a significant advantage.
