Job descriptionProvide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals. Support the development of functional academic daily living and communication skills. Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Foster student independence self-regulation and social-emotional growth. Collaborate with paraprofessionals specialists and general education staff to ensure inclusive practices. Maintain a structured positive classroom environment that supports behavior and engagement. Communicate effectively with families and colleagues to support consistent student progress. Current and proper Illinois teaching certification. Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities. Strong classroom management and behavior support skills. Familiarity with functional life skills curriculum and instructional methods. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Experience or willingness to use alternative communication systems (e.g. PECS AAC devices). Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and collaborative teaching.
