Schedule Details / Additional Information :

Nights, with 8 and 12-hour shifts.

Every third weekend rotation.

Holiday rotation.

Incentives :

Sign-On Bonus : $15,000 for 3rd Shift.

Student Loan Forgiveness : Up to $20,000.

Tuition Assistance : Up to $7,200.

RN Referral Bonus : $5,000 (for Advocate Aurora teammates).

Unit Overview :

Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , caring for a complex patient population, including :

Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.

Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.

Patients with hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.

A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, alongside medical overflow cases.

As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you will gain exposure to cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques and care.

Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based patient care utilizing the nursing process.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for safe and compassionate patient care.

Utilize clinical judgment and critical thinking to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Contribute to positive patient experiences throughout the care continuum.

Major Responsibilities :

Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care, involving the patient and family.

Recognize and respond to significant patient condition changes proactively.

Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and teach readiness for learning.

Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.

Engage in ongoing evaluation of patient and unit outcomes to initiate necessary changes.

Support collaborative communication, delegation, and leadership among team members.

Foster a culture of safety by identifying potential threats and intervening as necessary.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives for optimal patient care.

Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care principles.

Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required :

Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.

Experience Required :

Usually requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to provide holistic patient care with a family-centric focus.

Confidently address unanticipated clinical situations with timely interventions.

Proficient in computer applications, electronic mail, and medical records systems.

Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, and reach frequently throughout the workday.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor to waist height.

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.

Ability to perform patient transfers with appropriate assistance.

Maintain functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch for nursing procedures.

May be exposed to chemicals, hazardous waste, and communicable diseases; protective equipment required.
