As a Telemetry Charge Nurse, you will be entrusted with supervisory responsibilities assigned by the Unit Director, ensuring the smooth operation and prioritization of unit activities to meet evolving demands. You will play a vital role in fostering exceptional customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with patients, families, and staff.
Essential Functions
- Perform all duties outlined in the RN-Staff nurse role with clinical expertise and sound judgment.
- Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge aligned with current standards of practice.
- Promote a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care planning.
- Validate nurse-to-patient ratios and staff skill levels to ensure appropriate assignments.
- Develop delegation skills among staff and lead or contribute to department meetings and committees.
- Communicate and enforce compliance with departmental and organizational policies.
- Coach and mentor staff to uphold professional responsibilities and improve performance.
- Facilitate staff accountability and provide constructive feedback in challenging situations.
- Identify and address patient / family concerns and legal or ethical issues through regular rounding.
- Manage resources flexibly to promote cost-effective and safe patient care.
- Collaborate with medical staff to support progressive patient care and discharge planning.
- Encourage team-building activities and promote a positive, accountable work environment.
- Participate in policy development and monitor unit risk events.
- Support shared governance and mentor new staff and students.
- Adhere strictly to privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred.
Experience
Previous experience as a practicing Registered Nurse is required.
Licensure and Certifications
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state is mandatory. Healthcare Provider BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
