Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry night shift assignment requiring travel experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work on a 46-bed inpatient Med / Surg Telemetry unit within an acute care setting

Night shift, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required

Assignment is 13 weeks in length

Unit cares for telemetry and medical / surgical patients including neurology, cardiology, urology, ortho, general surgery, renal, pulmonology, and infectious diseases

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5

No cath lab, CVOR, or invasive neurology procedures are performed

Cerner EMR is used on the unit

Must be prepared to float to sister facility in Laveen and be the first to float if needed

Charge nurse and PCTs / nursing aides are present on all shifts

Floor-specific orientation is provided

Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, medication administration, lab draws if phlebotomy is unavailable, and working with interdisciplinary teams

SIMs Lab includes education on lifts, restraints, and wound care specific to facility policies and equipment

One major and one minor holiday coverage required during assignment

Navy scrubs required as dress code

Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support available 24 / 7

No hospitalist or intensivist in-house coverage available

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Requirements

Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience

Previous travel RN experience is required

Current ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of consideration; pending certifications not accepted

Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract, with two attempts permitted

Must pass SIMs Lab skills check on sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes on day one

Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred

COVID vaccination is required or declination form with supporting clergy or MD documentation

Candidates must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
