DEPARTMENT : Eastern Service Unit - Fruitport, Orchard View, Oakridge, Ravenna
POSITION : Physical Therapist
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy
- Michigan Physical Therapist License
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Collect, record, and report data relative to student performance on individual goals and objectivesConduct required formal and informal evaluations to measure students' progressCollaborate in the development of REEDs, evaluations and IEPsOversee PTA in all professional dutiesTrain staff in caring for / assisting students in mobility, transfers, seating options, evacuation drills, joint mobility and strengthening exercises, etc. to support student independenceMaintain accurate records of progress and serviceMaintain confidentiality at all timesComplete Medicaid documentation, monthlySupport student and teachers by addressing therapy needs that will help a student progress in the general education curriculumUtilize a variety of research-based intervention strategies, continually assessing student response to intervention and make modifications as needed to ensure all children are successfulWork collaboratively with school initiatives that support intervention strategies for student successConference with parents and classroom teachersEstablish communication systems between therapist and individual buildings, teachers, and parentsProvide home based activities, when appropriateProvide leadership and consultant services to the district's professional staff on matters pertaining to physical therapyWork cooperatively with community agencies involved with students and familiesConduct initial evaluations of students suspected of having delays in motor skillsPrepare written reports that shall include information needed to determine eligibility and educational data which identifies the student's current level of motor developmentCollaborate and consult with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by giving suggestions to aid the student's daily activitiesAssume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and suppliesInternal candidates interested in applying for this position may do so by emailing a letter of interest to ESU Special Education Director, Olivia Zienert.
