Job descriptionBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; PE license preferred Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, ideally within a public agency setting Proven leadership in managing complex infrastructure and capital improvement programs Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, asset management, and water / wastewater systems Comfortable being on-site approximately 75% of the time to lead operations and engage stakeholders Base salary range : $141,000 – $212,000 , depending on experience and qualifications Performance-based annual increases , plus raise after 6-month review Excellent public sector benefits, including CalPERS retirement , health, dental, and vision coverage Generous time off : PTO , 11 paid holidays , and support for work-life balance Stable, long-term leadership opportunity with high citywide visibility and strategic impact
A forward-thinking city in Ventura County is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead high-impact capital infrastructure projects —with a focus on water and wastewater systems . This is a hybrid leadership role , requiring approximately 75% on-site presence to provide hands-on oversight and team leadership. Ideal for senior engineering professionals who thrive in dynamic municipal environments and value long-term infrastructure planning. Must be authorized to live and work in the U.S.A.
Engineering Manager Responsibilities :
- Direct planning, design, and execution of water / wastewater and public works capital projects
- Lead, mentor, and manage engineering staff to ensure accountability and performance
- Represent the City in public forums including City Council, Planning, and Traffic Commissions
- Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to streamline project delivery
- Promote sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement in engineering operations
