Role Overview Own the system architecture for next-generation automotive closure systems. Lead the integration of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control components for powered sliding doors, liftgates, and latch systems. Ensure high reliability, safety compliance, and seamless interaction with vehicle controllers and networks. Key Responsibilities System Architecture & Integration
- Define end-to-end system architecture for closure systems including sliding doors, tailgates, and latches.
- Drive integration of actuators, sensors, switches, ECUs, harnessing, and network communication (CAN / LIN).
- Translate functional requirements into system specifications, interface definitions, and validation plans.
- Lead cross-functional reviews with mechanical, electrical, controls, firmware, and safety teams.
Technical Ownership
Build and maintain system-level models, block diagrams, timing diagrams, and network architecture.Define control strategies for powered closure operation - position control, anti-pinch, motor control, latch logic.Lead FMEAs, hazard analysis, and system-level DFMEA for closure systems.Evaluate actuator technologies (BLDC, DC motors), sensors (Hall, position, pinch), switches, and latch mechanisms.Integration With Vehicle Platforms
Ensure proper interaction between closure ECUs and vehicle body controllers over CAN / LIN.Define diagnostics, fault-handling logic, and thermal / power management.Drive EMC, environmental, and regulatory compliance (FMVSS, SAE standards).Work with suppliers for component selection, tuning, and performance validation.Program Execution
Support prototype builds, test planning, and issue triage throughout development cycles.Lead root-cause analysis of system-level issues (noise, binding, current draw, NVH, command latency).Approve design releases, test reports, and software updates impacting closure systems.Required Qualifications
15+ years of hands-on experience in automotive closure systems (sliding doors, tailgates, latches).Strong cross-domain expertise in mechanical, electrical, and system engineering.Deep understanding of actuators, motor drivers, sensors, switches, latches, and ECU interactions.Strong knowledge of CAN / LIN protocols, diagnostics, and body control architectures.Experience with system modeling tools (Simulink, Enterprise Architect, etc.).Proven track record delivering closure systems into production.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with tier-1 suppliers or OEM system architecture roles.Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) at system level.Experience with validation, DV / PV testing, and HIL environments.Exposure to CATIA / Creo for mechanical reviews and basic CAD comprehensionPi-square technologies is a Michigan (USA) Headquartered Automotive Embedded Engineering Services company, Synergy Partner for major OEMs and Tier 1s and their implementation partners in Automotive Embedded Product Development, Projects, Requirements Analysis, Software Design, Software Implementation, Efficient Build, Release Process, and turnkey software V & V Services.
