Job Description :

Meade Engineering is seeking a visionary, strongly communicative, and technically accomplished Vice President of Commissioning to lead and scale our commissioning practice across a diverse portfolio of high-performance projects. This role will oversee the strategic direction, operational performance, and technical execution of commissioning services for complex MEP systems-ensuring our clients receive reliable, safe, and fully integrated infrastructure from day one.

The VP of Commissioning is accountable for firmwide delivery of commissioning operations, including oversight of electrical and mechanical commissioning teams, quality assurance protocols, field execution, and client experience. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in commissioning data centers and other mission-critical environments, paired with the presence and interpersonal skills to lead up with internal executives, cross-functional teams, and external client leadership. This individual must exhibit strong leadership, clear communication, and exceptional organizational abilities to manage complexity and drive results across all levels of the business. Job Duties :

  • Lead the Commissioning Division -Set the vision, standards, and strategic priorities for mechanical and electrical commissioning services across all active and future markets.
  • Oversee Commissioning Operations -Manage regional and project-level commissioning teams, including directors, engineers, and field personnel across multiple geographies.
  • Ensure Technical Excellence -Provide high-level technical oversight of commissioning plans, scripts, protocols, testing procedures, and final documentation for complex systems including HVAC, UPS, generators, BMS, switchgear, and other MEP infrastructure.
  • Drive Commissioning Quality and Consistency -Develop and implement standard operating procedures, quality control checklists, and safety best practices that ensure excellence at every stage of the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Support Pre-Construction & Design Phase Input -Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external partners during early design and planning to embed commissioning thinking into project strategy.
  • Represent Commissioning with Clients and Partners -Serve as the executive point of contact for commissioning scope in major projects, maintaining trusted relationships with world-class clients, construction partners, and mission-critical facility owners.
  • Lead Up and Across- Effectively influence and align with senior leaders across internal departments and external client organizations to advocate for commissioning priorities and resolve challenges proactively.
  • Lead Team Development -Mentor commissioning leaders and field teams; drive recruitment, onboarding, and upskilling to ensure scalable delivery capacity and strong succession planning.
  • Monitor Performance & Profitability -Establish KPIs and reporting systems to track performance across quality, timeliness, cost control, client satisfaction, and risk.
  • Innovate & Improve -Identify opportunities for technical innovation, process automation, and workflow efficiency. Stay ahead of evolving codes, standards, and technology.
  • Ensure Compliance and Safety -Maintain compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and client-specific protocols, while driving a culture of proactive safety in all field activities.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field; equivalent technical experience or military commissioning background will be considered.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commissioning of complex building systems, with deep exposure to mission-critical facilities such as data centers, laboratories, or high-availability infrastructure.
  • 7+ years in a leadership role with responsibility for teams, budgets, and strategic operations.
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), CxA, or equivalent industry certification strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in a broad range of systems, including HVAC, CRAC units, chillers, boilers, UPS systems, generators, BMS integration, medium-voltage gear, and control sequences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through high-pressure, high-stakes project environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, build consensus, and influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Highly organized, with strong systems-thinking and time-management capabilities to juggle multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, and other relevant codes and commissioning frameworks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and commissioning-specific platforms is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience overseeing commissioning programs for hyperscale data centers or globally recognized technology clients.
  • Working knowledge of construction delivery methods (Design-Build, IPD, etc.) and how commissioning integrates across these phases.
  • Background in developing and implementing commissioning training programs and knowledge bases.
  • Experience driving process improvement or adopting emerging technologies in the commissioning workflow (e.g., Cx management software, cloud-based reporting).
  • Multi-region or national delivery leadership experience, with ability to scale team infrastructure and operational models.
