Machining Maintenance Leader

Job Title : Machining Maintenance Leader, 2nd Shift

Location : Coldwater, MI, USA

Salary : $31.50-35.00 / hour plus $1.25 shift premium

Summary

Provide direct leadership to shift manpower to meet production requirements by responding to all equipment issues in a timely manner. Responsible for repairs or improvement activities during weekends and vacation coverage when needed. Will assist with special rebuilds and supporting projects when necessary. Items may include repair / exchange of machine components, conveyors, motors, mechanical drives, electrical / electronic control boxes / devices , PLCs, switches / control mechanisms, electrical wiring, gauges / meters, pumps, and other equipment used in the operation of the Machining Department. Will need to assist in create operation standards and sensitive documentation for department.

Hours : 2 : 30pm-11 : 00pm

Essential Functions

• Direct Manpower on daily repairs or activities based on production requirements
• Completion of manpower performance evaluations yearly and provide improvement plans
• Responsible for manpower coverage based on vacation and call in.
• Training to manpower to meet skill levels needed to be able to respond to all equipment issues.
• Lead by example on all safety related policies and practices (LOTO, Arc Flash ,Confined space and Fall protection)
• Communicate daily activities with each shift leader to provide clear understanding of carry over items.
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently.
• Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
• Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Assemble, install and / or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct those, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
• Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
• Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Level and set-up new equipment after installation.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts and tools.
• Estimate repair costs.
• Achieve company and department business plans for Health and Safety Goals

Education :   High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience :   Three or more years of leadership experience working with electrical and mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics and PLCs. Must have the ability to understand electrical ladder circuits as well as motor controls circuits.
