TITLE : Mechanical Engineer – Commercial / MEP Systems
LOCATION : Middleburg Heights, OH (open to candidates within a 2-3 hour radius of Cleveland, OH, including Toledo, Dayton, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and surrounding areas)
TRAVEL : Up to 25% for worksite visits; remote candidates must work on-site at BG Headquarters in Middleburg Heights, OH, at least once per week.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Mechanical Engineer will design, engineer, and coordinate mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and related MEP systems) for commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring building systems are efficient, code-compliant, and aligned with project goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and engineer mechanical systems for commercial and industrial construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and building automation.
Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
Perform site surveys and equipment assessments to support system design and installation.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and construction teams to integrate MEP systems.
Prepare and review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and technical documentation.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best engineering practices.
Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during construction.
Support project budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience designing MEP systems for commercial or industrial construction projects.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office; experience with construction / project management software (Procore, Bluebeam) preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, HVAC design, plumbing, and building systems.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while coordinating with project teams and clients.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
