A GA or Compact License must be held. NIHSS certification is required. BLS certification must also be obtained. Skills in IV insertion and PICC line placement are necessary. Familiarity with Epic system is preferred. Ability to interpret telemetry readings is essential. The unit performs lumbar punctures, thoracentesis, NGT feeding, and NFT insertion. Top diagnoses and procedures include CHF, COPD, DM, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleeding, altered mental status, hypertension, renal failure, and heart failure.
