Must have an understanding of anatomy and pathology relevant to imaging quality. Description : Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists in providing safe, age-appropriate care by performing exams according to department procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely. Responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative. Sets up the equipment and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for administering contrast media responsibly. Ensures studies have proper patient identification and markers are used correctly. Reviews CT / radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and maintains life support equipment. Assists other technologists as needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations for physician intervention. Verifies patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort throughout the exam. Demonstrates competence in procedures, equipment, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities. Follows physician instructions during procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency in using power injection equipment. Utilizes critical thinking skills when interacting with patients and family. Asks clarifying questions and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands and documents pre-procedural verification and Time Out processes. Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates sterile technique. Maintains competency in venipuncture practices. Adjusts techniques to maintain the lowest possible dose of radiation while preserving image quality. Reports equipment malfunctions promptly. Cleans and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies. Explains the purpose and nature of exams clearly to patients. Addresses patient's questions and concerns satisfactorily. Participates in the training of departmental employees. Documents clearly and concisely using precise terminology. Reads email daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory education without prompting. Consistently produces acceptable images per radiologist feedback. Ensures equipment is fully operational before each use. Sends all studies to PACS after completion. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean department. Transports and positions patients as needed. Performs patient charging activities on the service day. Applies shielding and immobilization devices when necessary. Lends knowledge and assistance to others without prompting. Performs routine clerical and support duties as warranted. Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to coworkers. Operates all workstations associated with the CT department. Maintains Joint Commission standards and other regulatory standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
