Hours Per Week : 37.5
Schedule : 7.5 hour shifts, every other weekend rotation
SUMMARY : As a vital member of our professional medical team, you will play a key role in performing clinical laboratory analyses and examinations on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues. You will utilize various instruments and methods to deliver timely and accurate results that assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. The position requires advanced problem-solving skills to resolve clinical and instrument issues while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You may also provide critical weekend and holiday supervisory coverage as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Execute testing accurately and punctually.
Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient histories and conditions to clarify results (normal / abnormal) for appropriate clinical actions.
Communicate critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions to physicians and nursing staff promptly.
Perform quality control, routine and advanced maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytes / instruments.
Accurately prepare reagents and manage inventory for your laboratory section while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Provide supervisory oversight during weekends and holidays as required.
Maintain proficiency in computer functions related to ordering, performing, and reporting tests to support workflow efficiency.
Assist in training new and current employees on procedures and instruments, acting as a technical resource for technologists, technicians, and students.
Occasionally teach at the School of Medical Technology and assist with complex diagnostic procedures.
Engage in research and development of new or updated technologies, providing written evaluations to supervisors.
Complete additional duties as requested by the Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Sciences) and / or equivalent relevant experience recognized by the New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the Medical Technology Laboratory field.
New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Valid NYS driver's license if travel is required, as stipulated by the RGHS Motor Vehicle and Authorized Drivers Policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory.
Experience in a laboratory supervisory or leadership role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
M - Medium Work : Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
PAY RANGE : $41.75 - $47.00
