Fleet Technician III (Senior Level)

To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability.

• Responsibilities
• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform FAI / CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other customer equipment per all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Conduct quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet equipment including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and tanker trailers.
• Perform quality maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to engines, transmissions, drive-lines, suspension, brakes, fuel, exhaust, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Document all work performed on work orders in accordance with company procedures.
• Mentor and share expertise with Fleet Technician I and II personnel.
• Perform limited supervisory tasks when Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisor is unavailable.
• Perform electrical and welding repairs as needed.
• Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid drivers license (CDL preferred, not required).
• Minimum 10 years experience in medium / heavy-duty fleet maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Annual Inspector and Brake Inspector Certifications required.
• ASE certifications for Automotive or Medium / Heavy Duty Trucks preferred.
• Section 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certifications required.
• EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) preferred.
• Professional Skills
• Expert knowledge in all vehicle systems and components.
• Proficient in diagnosis and repair of electrical and other related systems.
• Strong understanding of DOT (FMCSA) regulations and OSHA safety requirements.
• Skilled in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
• Advanced knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software and OEM tools.
• Moderate computer proficiency.
• Must supply own tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by NW Equipment Group).
• Physical Demands
• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, kneel, and crouch.
• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 100 lbs.
• Excellent hand and finger dexterity required for handling tools and shop equipment.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
• Must be able to perform repetitive motions with hand tools.
• Working Conditions
• Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity.
• May be required to work in confined spaces or elevated positions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
• Non-traditional work hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Occasional travel may be required for training or operational support.

Pay : $38.00 - $48.00 per hour
