Registered Nurse – General Surgery

Location :  Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, AK

Pay Rate :  $60 / hour

Period of Performance :  Through 11 / 30 / 2027

About the Role :

Legacy Personnel, Inc. is seeking a  Registered Nurse – General Surgery  to support the  673d Medical Group  at  Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska . This is a full-time opportunity to provide high-quality surgical nursing care in a collaborative and mission-driven environment serving active-duty military members, veterans, and their families.

Work Schedule :

  • Monday – Friday,  7 : 30 AM to 4 : 30 PM
  • Includes a one-hour unpaid meal break
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements

Responsibilities :

The RN – General Surgery will perform a range of clinical and administrative duties, including but not limited to :

  • Provide  preoperative and postoperative counseling and education  to patients.
  • Recover endoscopy patients when PACU staff are short-staffed (after ACLS and PALS training).
  • Coordinate patient care with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Conduct  physical exams, health histories, wound care, and medication administration .
  • Deliver  health promotion, patient counseling, and education .
  • Direct and observe the care provided by other healthcare professionals.
  • Assign patient care based on staff scope of practice and skill levels.
  • Identify and respond promptly to  emergency situations .
  • Manage referrals, arrange specialty care, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with all  Military Treatment Facility (MTF)  policies and standards.
  • Obtain and maintain credentials to perform  conscious sedation , as required.
  • Qualifications :

  • Education :  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an  ACEN  or  CCNE-accredited  program.
  • Experience :  Minimum  1 year of experience  in a surgery clinic, step-down unit, ICU, or PACU within the past 5 years.
  • License :  Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Certifications :  Current  BLS, ACLS, and PALS  (AHA or ARC) or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire.
  • Security Clearance :  Must be able to pass a  Government background check and obtain security clearance.
