We are currently searching for an experienced Transportation Designer to support our Southwest Region located in Cottonwood Heights, UT . Relocation assistance available if needed.
What you’ll be doing :
- Prepare quantities and develop PS&E packages supporting highway design projects
- Prepare temporary traffic control plans and traffic management plan (TMP) as part of maintenance of traffic (MOT) activities
- Prepare permanent signing and pavement marking plans
- Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations
- Prepare streetlight design plan and perform photometric analysis using AGi32
- Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans
- Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports
- Attend project meetings with clients as needed
What you need to have :
BS in Civil Engineering0 - 4 years of transportation engineering experienceProficiency in MicroStation and / or AutoCADFamiliarity with DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTOFamiliarity with traffic programs including Synchro / SimTraffic, HCSLocal state DOT experience is preferredSelf-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversightAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and writtenAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana.
