PATIENT ACCOUNTING REPRESENTATIVE

Description

The Patient Accounting Representative coordinates patient and insurance billing for a speedy recovery of charges to patients for services rendered. This individual is the representative of WTRC in communication with the patient and insurance company concerning charges for services rendered.

• Processes and prepares for insurance billing for assigned accounts.
• Accounts are billed timely and accurately.
• Review and follow-up of all claims billed.
• Appeals insufficient payments.
• Receives appropriate authorizations as required.
• Remains current on changes in billing procedures.
• Reports all accounts that may be collection problems to director or assistant director.
• Posts daily adjustments to claims using EOBs received through correspondence as required.
• Requests and follows up on necessary information from Medical Records.
• Available and willing to learn and help with coworker's assignments if necessary.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

This position requires endurance to perform tasks over long periods of work hours and the ability to perform essential functions without posing a "direct threat" in the workplace. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Requirements

This position requires a high school graduate or the equivalent. CRT training is preferred. One year of general office work or equivalent, i.e. typing, filing, phone, and public contact. Previous medical experience is preferred, along with knowledge of insurance billing and collections. Experience in using Microsoft and Google Office products is preferred.
