JOB TITLE : IT Director

Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The IT Director will oversee all aspects of the firm’s technology systems, ensuring seamless operations, cybersecurity, and strategic IT growth. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in legal technology, network management, and IT best practices to support the firm’s attorneys and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Develop and implement the firm’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals.
- Evaluate and recommend legal-specific software, hardware, and cloud solutions.
- Stay current with legal tech trends (e.g., e-discovery, case management, document automation).
- Manage the firm’s network, servers, workstations, and cloud environments.
- Oversee cybersecurity measures, including data protection, firewalls, and compliance with legal industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, client confidentiality).
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Administer legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase), document management systems, and billing tools.
- Provide technical support and training to attorneys and staff on firm systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Negotiate with IT vendors, managed service providers (MSPs), and software providers.
- Monitor IT budgets, procurement, and cost-effective solutions.
- Compliance & Security
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and ethical obligations related to client information.
- Conduct regular security audits and employee training on IT policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, or ITIL.Familiarity with legal-specific certifications (e.g., Certified Legal IT Professional).Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).7+ years in IT management, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.Expertise in legal software (e.g., litigation support, timekeeping, e-filing).Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance.Proficiency in Windows / Mac environments, Microsoft 365, VPNs, and VoIP systems.Project management (PMP or Agile certifications a plus).Excellent communication and leadership abilities.Physical Demands and Working Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Employees work in a traditional office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
