This is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to join our AMAZING OR TEAM. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is the largest hospital in Wisconsin and provides 24 / 7 on-site heart-care services. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative care to a diverse patient population.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shift, with options for 8 or 10-hour shifts or Monday-Friday with on-call responsibilities, mainly overnight (5-8 call slots plus 1-2 weekend call slots in an 8-week schedule). Call requirements may vary based on staffing needs, with a 30-minute arrival time expected.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean and safe surgical environment and utilize aseptic techniques in preparing materials, supplies, and equipment.Understand and assist with various surgical procedures and ensure the operating room is always ready.Assist as a Second Assistant when necessary and ensure the availability of equipment and supplies.Transport patients and / or equipment efficiently and safely.Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, focusing on appropriate techniques to ensure safety.Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, adhering to departmental policies.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association is required to be obtained within 6 months.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience Required :
No prior experience is necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., lift 20 lbs. overhead, carry 40 lbs., and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.Ability to push / pull with 30 lbs. of force and operate essential equipment.Exposure to various hazards including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological elements.Must have functional sight and hearing, with the ability to wear protective gear such as masks and gloves.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and twisting are required.This job description is intended to outline the general responsibilities and expectations of the role.
