About the Role :
Lumicity is proud to be partnering with an innovative company at the forefront of modular home construction. We are seeking experienced Mechanical Designers with a passion for design, sustainability, and precision engineering. In this role, you’ll be an integral part of the design and manufacturing team, helping to bring high-performance modular homes from concept to production using SolidWorks and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks , focused on modular residential structures.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, structural engineering, and manufacturing to ensure seamless design integration.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure efficient production, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
- Integrate construction methods and building code compliance into mechanical systems design.
- Support prototyping, testing, and iteration phases with hands-on involvement.
- Optimize mechanical layouts for HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems within modular constraints.
- Maintain and manage bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
Key Requirements :
Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer , ideally in construction, prefab / modular, or product manufacturing industries.Proficient in SolidWorks (CAD, assemblies, sheet metal, simulation tools).Strong understanding of construction practices , structural components, and building systems.Experience with design for manufacturing principles and working with production teams.Knowledge of residential building codes, materials, and modular construction is a strong plus.Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple design iterations.Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.Desirable Attributes :
Experience with Revit or other BIM tools (a plus, but not required).Familiarity with sustainability standards or energy-efficient home design.
