Accounts Receivable / Billing Analyst Invoicing Specialist

Location : Hybrid (San Mateo, CA Mon, Wed, Thurs on-site) or Remote (PST working hours required)

Schedule : Full-time | Must work Pacific Time hours

Reports To : Accounting Manager / Finance Director

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable / Billing Analyst (Invoicing Specialist) to join our non-profit finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical and Medicaid billing, with at least 3 years of healthcare billing and invoicing experience. This role will manage the end-to-end invoicing process, ensure billing accuracy, and maintain compliance with payer requirements. The position is hybrid for Bay Area candidates (required on-site in San Mateo Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) or remote for out-of-area candidates able to work PST hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and process approximately 50 invoices per month for healthcare services.
  • Manage Medicaid and other medical billing submissions, ensuring compliance with payer requirements and timelines.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and track payment status to ensure timely collections.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or payment issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of invoices, remittances, and billing adjustments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Finance, Operations, and Client Services) to ensure accurate billing data.
  • Generate AR and billing reports as needed for management review.
  • Assist with month-end close activities and audit support as requested.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare billing, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing and medical billing processes required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central or similar ERP systems is highly preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must pass a background and drug screening prior to employment.

    Hybrid (3 days on-site : Mon, Wed, Thurs in San Mateo, CA) for Bay Area candidates. Remote option available for qualified candidates willing to work Pacific Time (PST) hours.
