JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at UTMB is a Level IV maternity care center, nationally recognized as a center of excellence for maternal critical care services and the management of placenta accreta spectrum disorders. Each year, there are over 8,000 triage visits to labor and delivery, and approximately 6,000 deliveries are made across our health care system. Of these, 5,000 occur at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, with 70% classified as high risk. We serve a diverse and at-risk population drawn from the Regional Women’s Services and Pediatrics clinics, covering areas from Orange / Beaumont to Katy / Conroe / New Caney and south to Angleton. The OB Anesthesiology Division includes three fellowship-trained OB anesthesiologists and three general anesthesiologists. Fellowship and resident education are an integral component of the Division’s mission, offering significant opportunities for advancement in clinical care, education, research, and innovation. The OB Anesthesiology Division works closely with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which supports a residency program of nine residents per year (36 total) and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program of three fellows per year (9 total). The department maintains an active basic, clinical, and translational research program and is currently ranked #17 among OB / GYN departments in the Blue Ridge Rankings. The faculty includes internationally recognized experts in obstetrical ICU care and placenta accreta management.
