Job Title : Supply Chain Specialist - Dallas, Texas
Job Description
The Manufacturing Buyer oversees purchasing and planning activities, ensuring the availability of raw materials, finished goods, and services. This role supports product development through prototype sourcing and product ramp-up efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate forecasting and demand planning models for both purchased and manufactured products.
- Conduct Make vs. Buy analysis and provide actionable recommendations.
- Manage materials using Excel and QuickBooks Enterprise, ensuring data accuracy and efficiency.
- Generate, track, and maintain purchase orders, ensuring all open PO lines are up-to-date.
- Define requirements for future ERP systems and assist with periodic inventory counts.
- Communicate product availability and status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Research and evaluate potential vendors, solicit quotes, and provide management with purchasing options.
- Analyze vendor quotes for accuracy and reasonableness, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain and develop strong supplier relationships, including conducting site visits.
- Purchase services and inventory from qualified domestic and international suppliers, focusing on quality, delivery, and price.
- Ensure compliance with supplier qualification and maintenance procedures.
- Verify that all required specifications and documentation accompany purchase orders, and monitor the status of open orders.
- Develop alternate suppliers for critical inventory and services to mitigate risks.
- Facilitate sales, inventory, and operational planning meetings to align supply with sales forecasts.
- Contribute to supplier development activities and collaborate with Quality to maintain a robust supplier management system.
- Adhere to quality system policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FDA and other regulations.
- Support initiatives to reduce inbound freight costs.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and inventory planning within a manufacturing environment.Experience with S&IP, VMI, MidMaxProficiency in inventory planning and management.Strong communication, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.Intermediate to advanced skills in QuickBooks, iTraycer, Excel, and Microsoft Office.Experience with ERP systems and inventory programs such as VMI and Kanban.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to operate with a sense of urgency while exercising sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strategic sourcing experience, including negotiating contracts, identifying potential new suppliers, and assessing suppliers' core competencies and risk points.Experience with purchasing from multiple vendors.Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Inventory Management.
