Director of Security and Planning

George Fox Universitys Institutional Technology department is seeking a strategic and collaborative individual to safeguard the universitys information assets and guide the strategic execution of technology initiatives through leadership of the information security program and project portfolio management processes.

About the Job :

The Director of Security and Planning works closely with campus constituents to identify assess and mitigate information security risks and to ensure that technology projects are aligned with institutional priorities. This role involves supporting the development and execution of a comprehensive security roadmap and establishing a robust project management framework to support the universitys mission.

In this position the Director will shape the work of cross-functional teams to address security and project needs through the development of clear policies effective risk management and disciplined project execution.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Developing implementing and managing a university-wide information security program to ensure the confidentiality integrity and availability of institutional data.
• Overseeing project and portfolio management for Institutional Technology ensuring projects are prioritized planned and executed in alignment with strategic goals.
• Leading the universitys incident response plan including preparation detection analysis containment and post-incident activities.
• Establishing and managing the project management framework standards and processes for the department.
• Conducting regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with policies and regulations (e.g. FERPA HIPAA).
• Facilitating the intake prioritization and resource planning for all technology projects in the portfolio.
• Leading change management initiatives for Institutional Technology particularly those related to security and project implementation.
• Developing and delivering security awareness and training programs for faculty staff and students.
• Working closely with campus stakeholders and constituents to align university technology deliverables with stakeholder input and customer requirements.
• Organizing leading and facilitating cross-functional project and / or task teams responsible for implementing new technology solutions.
• Providing regular reporting on the status of the information security program and the project portfolio to the CIO and key stakeholders.
• Building and maintaining partnerships throughout the campus community to support the educational and administrative needs of the institution.
• Communicating effectively and courteously with others including employees students and the public in a spirit of teamwork respect and customer service.
• By actions words and lifestyle be a Christian role model to students whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
• Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect appreciation and humility.
• Other duties as assigned.

A day in the life of this position :

Each day the Director of Security and Planning will work with technical teams to assess and mitigate security risks while also collaborating with campus leaders to prioritize and plan technology projects. Through their work they will build relationships to understand institutional priorities ensuring that security measures are integrated into all technology initiatives and that projects are delivered on time within scope and on addition this leader will work closely with other units within Institutional Technology to apply continuous improvement to department operations security protocols and project management methodologies.
