Network Architect - Full Time

Under the supervision of the Director of Infrastructure, this position is the companys lead network operator, designer, and trouble escalation contact. The Network Architect evaluates, recommends, implements, operates, troubleshoots, maintains, and lifecycles all equipment required for data and voice communications in our dozens of distributed offices and locations. The Network Architect also assists the Director of Infrastructure in developing security-centric network use policies for our user community and assists with detecting and responding to use policy violations. The Network Architect authors user-focused tutorials and educational materials, and may occasionally be called upon to lead user training applicable to the products and services they operate.

Essential Functions :

• Design and deploy technically sound user and system network policies based on industry best practices.
• Audit existing and future systems for voice and data networking best practices compliance.
• Self-starting remedial projects anywhere gaps in system, network, or user policies are identified.
• Consult with Security Architect and Communications Architect to ensure that their solutions comply with network policies, and that those solutions integrate with availability and performance monitoring practices under the Network Architects control.
• Establish practices for detecting possible breaches in network perimeter or internal systems.
• Urgently respond to any suspected interruptions to NOMSs voice or data network availability.
• Coach, mentor, and develop junior technicians in the IT Networking space.
• Author and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, VLAN and subnet assignment inventories, and equipment lists.
• Execute technical changes in alignment with NOMS change management policies.
• Experienced knowledge of data analysis, systems and network design, problem identification including but not limited to medical data processing.
• Advanced proficiency of server and computer hardware, software, data networks, voice and data communications including compatibility and system configuration.
• Familiar with programming languages. Experience scripting issue detection and correction, such as with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar is a plus.
• Skilled in performing as programmer / analyst to resolve critical problems, coordinate simultaneous efforts, recover from data or link loss, expedite development, improve program efficiencies.
• Ability to be oriented to end-user support needs across multiple sites.

Office setting, well-ventilated and well lighted. Work involves frequent telephone contact with staff. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work is nominally remote with in-office participation as required.

Physical / Mental Demands :

Normal office environment. Work is typically performed at a desk or table requiring the use of standard office equipment. Intermittent sitting, standing and stooping. May view computer screen for long periods of time. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Position will require travel to various offices.
