Position : Human Resources Director at Honest to Goodness (HTG) Hospitality

Location : Nashville or Atlanta

Reports To : Owner

FSLA Classification : Exempt, salaried

Compensation : $80,000-90,000

General Working Hours :

• 45 hours per week
• Mon-Fri 8 : 30am-6pm, with flexibility required to support restaurant operations, attend manager training, or respond to urgent employee matters outside of traditional office hours.
• Occasional travel between Nashville, Charleston and Atlanta locations is required.

The Role

The HR Director at HTG Hospitality is both a strategic leader and a hands-on partner. This role balances two equally important areas of responsibility :

• Compliance & Benefits ensuring HR processes, policies, and benefit programs are compliant, equitable, and accessible.
• People & Culture nurturing a workplace rooted in respect, growth, and hospitality.

HR at the corporate level currently consists of this Director role with part-time administrative support. The HR department is not an island though, as it works alongside four collaborative team members at HTGs Management Company. Together, they provide a range of services to the restaurants across Administration, Finance, Compliance and HR. At the restaurant level, HR tasks are also shared with individual restaurant managers, Operations Directors, and Managing Partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
• Serve as a resource to restaurant managers and operations leaders, equipping them to handle day-to-day HR questions and employee concerns.
• Lead open enrollment and manage benefit programs (health, retirement, PTO, leave administration).
• Partner with leadership to foster a values-driven, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and training programs that ensure compliance and support team growth.
• Provide guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
• Partner with ownership on strategic initiatives, workforce planning, and culture-building projects.
• Act as a trusted advisor to staff at all levels.

Qualifications

• 57+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in hospitality or related industry.
• Familiarity with independent restaurant operations strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in compliance, benefits management, and employee relations.
• Proven ability to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion.
• Strong organizational and process-improvement skills.
• SHRM-CP / SCP or PHR / SPHR certification is a plus.
