Responsibilities
The Vice President, Information Technology and Institutional Research / CIO leads the development and implementation of a collegewide vision for technology and research that fulfills the mission and drives achievement of the strategic goals of Seminole State College. The Vice President manages, plans, and directs the Computing and Telecommunications Services (CTS) and the Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) departments in the development of technical principles, strategies, plans, architecture, and standards, and the integration of systems for Seminole State College. The Vice President serves as a member of the Executive Team and reports directly to the president.
Essential Functions
- Provides a vision for technology and research to maximize student success and institutional effectiveness.
- Serves as a member of the Executive Team, shaping the strategy and operations of the college. Partners collaboratively with colleagues leveraging technology to enable innovation and maximize efficiency.
- Leads campus-wide technology projects, both instructional and administrative.
- Monitors and evaluates emerging technology and standards. When potential application is identified, conducts feasibility studies and research to evaluate benefits, cost significance, threats, opportunities, strategies, and other implications.
- Assists in interfacing with individual department heads and users to design and generate integrated data management systems to benefit students and employees.
- Directs the assessment of departmental systems to ensure compliance with state-mandated regulations and SSC goals, policy, standards, and / or objectives.
- Leads the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and implements the research agenda for the college in support of continuous quality improvement across all programs and functions, various program accreditations, successful grant applications, and information for the Board of Trustees and other constituents. Ensures all state and federal reporting is conducted in an effective and timely manner.
- Prepares reports outlining recommendations and courses of action for the CTS and IER departments. Interprets administrative rules, regulations, and policies relative to assigned programs.
- Ensures compliance as needed. Oversees cybersecurity and disaster recovery plans.
- Coordinates with other county, state, federal, and public entities as necessary to achieve the overall technology objectives.
- Develops, recommends, implements, and enforces CTS policies, procedures, and programs to affect the efficient, effective, and uniform delivery of information services. Develops and maintains metrics regarding division effectiveness.
- Participates in the planning, preparation, and coordination of the CTS and IER budgets and ensures that budgetary compliance is achieved from both a financial and programmatic standpoint.
- Builds, motivates, and leads a team of CTS and IER professionals aligned with organizational culture, responsible to the College needs and committed to integrity and excellence.
- Oversees the Technology Governance model for the College as approved by the President.
- Actively participates with state and national professional organizations, as well as other colleges and universities to remain current with technology responsibilities.
- Performs all other duties as may be required or assigned.

Works inside in an office environment.Ability to work outside of typical business hours on occasion. Master’s Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related Management Information Systems (MIS) field.Seven years full-time administrative experience in Management Information Systems and resources.Five years of progressively responsible experience with Enterprise Resource Systems (ERP) and with local area (LAN), wide area (WAN), and enterprise-wide networks.Desired Qualifications
