Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for the Med / Surg Telemetry Float Pool requiring a MO or compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and BCLS / ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Position is within a short-term acute care hospital on the Medical / Surgical and Telemetry Float Pool
  • Floats between medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiology, and renal units as needed
  • Patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 for days and weekends, and 1 : 6 for nights
  • Assignment includes 12-hour day shifts from 6 : 45 to 19 : 15
  • Unit assignments may be pre-assigned or determined up to 1 hour before each shift
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic EMR system; charting experience strongly preferred
  • Specialized equipment includes lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner, with training provided
  • No local candidates allowed within a 75-mile radius
  • Duties include providing patient care across a variety of adult medical-surgical and specialty units
  • All travel nurses may float to affiliated hospitals within the health system as needed
  • Navy blue scrubs are required for this assignment
  • Free parking is available on site
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off may be taken during the 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must reside outside the 75-mile radius from the facility
  • Fit testing requires appropriate facial hair for compliance with safety standards
  • Permanent employees must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

    • Requirements

  • Active RN license in MO or a compact state is required for consideration
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications are required
  • Telemetry and IV start competency required
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent relevant nursing experience
  • Experience with Epic charting system preferred
  • Ability to float to multiple units and adapt to various patient populations
  • Must complete pre-employment fit testing and meet physical requirements for lifting devices
  • No prior permanent employment at this health system within the past year
