Job Purpose
The job purpose of a lab assistant isto support your team of lab techs and other lab professionals by performing routine tasks to ensure the lab operates efficiently and accurately. This includes preparing and maintaining equipment and samples conducting basic tests recording and organizing data and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
In addition you will be responsible for contributing to the growth and success of HealthTexas while upholding our Mission Vision and Values.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Follow established safety guidelines for working in the laboratory.Record daily temperatures for equipment and for laboratory area. Troubleshoot any deviations to correct out of control readings. Document corrective actions.Assist in maintenance of reagent and supply inventory.Receive supplies into the laboratory unpack and properly store items in a timely manner label all reagents according to regulatory guidelines. Notify Lab Manager of any problems or concerns.Adhere to established Laboratory procedures.Process all samples according to written laboratory procedures.Perform all waived laboratory tests with accuracy and efficiency adhering to (GLP) Laboratory Practice Standards.After documented training submit accurate test results in a timely manner utilizing the (LIS) Laboratory Information System.Performing maintenance calibrations quality controls and releasing test results after documented training completion.Other duties as assigned.Experience
Recommended : 3 12 months lab experience (not required).Education
High School graduate or GED equivalent (required per CLIA regulations).Knowledge Skills & Abilities
A lab assistant needs a combination of knowledge skills and abilities including technical skills like proficiency with lab equipment and procedures analytical skills for data and problem-solving organizational skills like time management and attention to detail and crucial soft skills such as communication teamwork and adherence to safety protocols.Work Hours Travel Requirements
Monday Friday 3 : 00 p.m. 11 : 00 p.m. and as needed to complete projects. Overtime is not often required. We value work-life balance and ensure overtime is an exception not the norm.Local travel is only required for orientation special training or company events.Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The lab assistant will be working in a well-lit environment that is temperature controlled. Lab assistants are often on their feet or sitting at the bench for the majority of the work follow strict safety protocols and wear protective gear like gloves masks and goggles due to potential exposure to hazardous materials infectious specimens and fumes.Physical requirements for a lab assistant includefrequent standing and walking performing fine motor tasks and occasional bending lifting and reaching. Lab assistants must be able to lift up to 2030 pounds perform repetitive motions like pipetting and be able to move quickly between different locations within the lab.
