The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the safe repair of various kinds of electrical / mechanical equipment including diagnostic trouble shooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly and testing. The equipment may include AC and / or DC motors, generators, servos, pumps, blowers, gearboxes, housings, etc. Includes the proper use of testing and measuring equipment such as high potential meters, multi meters, AC and DC voltage test panels, growler, Bar to Bar tester, micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, bearing bore gauges. May require work at both in house and at a customer's locations. Responsibilities : Conducts initial evaluations of equipment to assess operational status or running condition. Utilizes appropriate test instruments based on the specific equipment and circumstances. Documents test results and troubleshooting findings on the required forms. Tags equipment for disassembly and takes photographs as needed. Disassembles equipment while maintaining clear identification of all components, using labels and / or photographs as appropriate. Identifies and records the root cause of failure. Sorts and routes dismantled components to the proper workgroups for repair or cleaning. Notifies the supervisor when new or remanufactured parts are required. Collects cleaned, repaired, and replacement components from other workgroups and performs reassembly and final testing in accordance with Customer, EASA, OEM, or specifications. Records final test results on the appropriate forms. Returns all completed job cards, initial and final test documentation, photographs, and related materials to the shop office. Required Experience : High School Diploma or the Equivalent Certificate or Associate's degree in an electrical / mechanical related field preferred AC Motors : 3 years (Required) Generator repair : 3 years (Required) AC Single phase : 3 years (Required) A minimum of 1-3 years of heavy equipment repair, diesel mechanic experience, or motor mechanic experience Requires diagnostic troubleshooting, disassembly, measurement, data collection, failure analysis, repair, re-assembly, testing and safety abilities at a career skilled tradesman level.
