As the Tribal Operations Manager, you’ll be a key leader driving organizational cohesion and supporting departmental efficiencies across the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. You’ll coordinate daily operations across multiple departments, ensuring services run smoothly and teams work together to deliver meaningful results for Tribal citizens and the broader community.

The Manager oversees departmental operations, supports grant management and reporting, and facilitates employee development and retention initiatives. You will monitor departmental performance against established operational goals, regularly evaluating current systems, and implementing enhancements to drive efficiency and effectiveness. You will develop and maintain robust reporting and auditing processes to analyze operational effectiveness, ensuring that performance data is regularly reviewed and used to inform decision-making. By fostering collaboration, supporting fiscal responsibility, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, you’ll play a key role in strengthening the Tribe’s programs and upholding the Tribe’s values of respect, integrity, and cultural stewardship.

You’ll need sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality, as well as sensitivity to Native American culture and Tribal sovereignty. Your knowledge and expertise in organizational management, strategic planning, and compliance with Tribal and Federal laws will ensure smooth operations and effective communication throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, or a related field
• Sensitivity to Native American culture and Tribal sovereignty; experience working within a sovereign Tribal government is preferred
• Demonstrable experience in personnel management, budget management, advocacy, and grant management and administration
• Proficiency in managing budgets, forecasting funding needs, and monitoring financial status
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes and unexpected event

Preference is given to qualified Native American candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, U.S.A., Section 472), Section 472), 2012-ORD-001, Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance and 2014-ORD-003, Amendment to the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance including any further amendments thereto or other applicable laws.
