Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Cardiac Sonographer Discipline : Allied Health Professional Start Date : 11 / 03 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift : 8 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer with current RCS or RDCS certification and at least one year of cardiac experience. Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based setting with a focus on adult and geriatric patients, with occasional adolescent and pediatric exams Responsibilities include transthoracic echo, transesophageal and stress testing, dobutamine and treadmill exercise stress echo, and carotid duplex studies Use stationary and portable ultrasound equipment Day shifts, Monday through Friday, with variable start times between 7 : 00 AM and 9 : 00 AM Weekend coverage required on a rotating basis, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM Occasional call may be requested First to float across multiple units and locations per staffing needs EMR experience not specified Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the work site Locals are not accepted Perform and adapt a variety of ultrasonographic diagnostic procedures as appropriate to evaluate anatomical and pathological processes Record results and preliminary clinical impressions for review by supervising physicians Support teaching efforts as a clinical instructor for the School of Ultrasound and provide education to fellows, residents, and visiting physicians May participate in clinical research and act as a resource for other staff within the system Orientation typically takes place at the main hospital campus and lasts about one week, with department-driven scheduling Strict pass / fail competency testing required before start; failure after two attempts requires additional training and passing prior to assignment continuation Standard rotation includes some holiday assignments, subject to department policies Scrub or dress code details not specified Not all units accept first-time travelers; eligibility determined by unit Requirements Minimum of one year cardiac sonography experience required RCS or RDCS certification required BLS certification through the American Heart Association required Completion of a CAAHEP-approved ultrasound program or Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or related health sciences field required License required if applicable Pass / fail telemetry exam required prior to start with a minimum 80% passing score and strict criteria for rhythm recognition Must be able to independently perform non-invasive cardiac studies using ultrasound technology Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620472.
