Senior Software Engineer, Backend (AI Agents)

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the AI Agents engineering team within the Servicing Engineering organization. Our team works closely with an omnichannel AI agent vendor to provide a conversational first point of contact for our customers. We focus on orchestrating the systems within Affirm to continuously find solutions for our customers. The team is newly formed and taking on big unknowns, so we are seeking someone who wants to take ownership and execute for whatever is necessary.

What Youll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensure that everyone is supported throughout delivery.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics; participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support the operations and availability of your teams artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond your team through writing and tech talks.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

Pay, Equity, and Benefits

Pay Grade : N; Equity Grade : 8. Affirm emphasizes a simple and transparent pay structure based on location, experience, and job-related skills. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity, stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental, and vision for you and your dependents).

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year : $190,000 - $240,000. USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year : $169,000 - $219,000.

Affirm is remote-first; most roles are remote. Some roles may require occasional office work depending on responsibilities.
