General Superintendent - Raleigh Job Overview
This position will be on the job site every day and will fill a key role on the project team. Our client is offering generous relocation for this position. Responsibilities include directing the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule, managing the project budget for general conditions and site services, developing, documenting, and communicating the work plan regarding changes made in the field, maintaining a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems, obtaining or verifying that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes, acting as primary safety representative in the field and enforcing safety compliance with all trades, developing safety strategies and driving safety culture across all project personnel, conducting maintenance and planning of "workarounds," shutdowns and tie-ins, establishing credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment, resolving jurisdictional disputes with support from the Sr General Superintendent or Construction Executive, leading contractor meetings on a regular basis, maintaining daily reports and documentation using software tools, creating, managing, and updating the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary, communicating schedule status, updates, and changes to project team and trade contractors, planning, coordinating, and managing jobsite logistics, developing the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan in partnership with the Operations Excellence team, overseeing the plan and implementing necessary changes, managing Next150 / Site Services material and crew needs, training direct report Field Engineers and Superintendents on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen, assisting in development, preplanning, and preconstruction / construction to write scopes of work and participate in buyout, administering Time and Materials (T&M) tracking, leading stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plans, engaging in the community, growing and fostering relationships in the local market, collaborating closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies including performance metrics on your assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables, training direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks, managing workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members, and aiding in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports.
Experience / Education : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, 10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million commercial / industrial construction project(s) or multiple projects in a lead superintendent role, OSHA 30-hour certified, STS-C Certification, First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Strong technical and communication skills, excellent organizational skills, excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs, ability to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentations, ability to work in a team environment, proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software tools, construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction, experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control, familiarity with Pull Planning Process, strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan, ability to create an environment where "safety first" is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude, experience supervising a project team.
