Assistant Professor of Immunology and Microbiology

Position Overview

Position Summary :

Eastern New Mexico University's (ENMU) Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology. ENMU seeks candidates with expertise in Immunology, Microbiology, Virology, or related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to establish a research program that engages students in applied and / or basic research. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is required. Position open until filled.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Develop and teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology, including but not limited to Microbiology, and advanced courses in Virology, Medical Microbiology, and Immunology.
• Establish an active research program which provides training and applied and / or basic research experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Seek and obtain extramural funding to support research efforts.
• Direct and mentor graduate students in theses and research projects.
• Maintain appropriate service to the department, college, and university, including service on departmental, college, and university committees, assisting with the departmental recruitment and retention efforts, and advising undergraduate students.
