Frying Pan Farm Park (FPFP) in Herndon, is a park where every day is different. FPFP is a 135-acre park, which includes a 1920s-1950s working farm, equestrian facilities, Visitor Center with museum, rental space, working antique carousel, wagon rides, nature trails, historic buildings, summer camps, and an on-site preschool. The facilities and farm assistant position at Frying Pan Farm Park is responsible for animal care, grounds upkeep, and facility maintenance, ensuring the smooth operation of the park. Working under the farm manager, this role involves performing a variety of tasks ranging from unskilled to skilled labor. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where maintaining park facilities and supporting community events is integral to its mission. Equipment Operation : This position requires experience operating hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment such as tractors, farm implements, water trailer, heavy-duty mowers, drags, chainsaws, weed-trimmers, blowers, edgers, and other landscaping and farm tools.
Leadership & Reporting :
Schedule & Emergency Services : This position requires a flexible schedule to cover day, and evening shifts and weekend as needed. Regular attendance is essential. As Emergency Services personnel, the employee may need to report to work during extreme weather or emergencies, including during unscheduled leave or administrative leave declarations. The position is located at 2709 West OX Road. Herndon VA 20171.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to bend, twist, turn, stand, sit and stoop. Ability to climb on and off equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to operate grounds equipment. Ability to operate motor vehicle and trailer. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Ability to traverse uneven ground. Ability to work in variable weather conditions while performing physical labor. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
